Question:
Please can you give me any information on the different types of
diabetes and what they involve?
Answer:
I'll assume you mean T1 vs T2
Type One diabetes used to be called juvenile diabetes. It is sometimes
called Insulin Deopendant Diabetes or IDDM.
With T1, you lose the ability to make natural insulin. The treatment is
Insulin. About 80% of juvenile diabetics are T1, and about 10% of adults
Type two diabetes is when you become resistant to insulin. You usually
have fairly high insulin levels in your system, but your BG regulation
mechanism ignores them. It is treated with a combination of diet,
exercise, a number of oral meds and/or insulin.
