Question:
Are there any people with type 1 diabetes who have had it since
childhood who are in their 30's and 40's? Would like to find support
out there for this group of diabetics. Discussing being a child with
diabetes, an adolescent with diabetes, an adult with diabetes, and a
parent with diabetes. The emotional aspects of living with type 1
diabetes on a daily basis.
Answer:
Two answers, first, there is support here. I, for example, am 34, and
have had diabetes since I was 7.
There is also a listserv for people who have had diabetes for more than
30 years, called dm30 it is at starnet.com: so, messages go to
d...@starnet.com I can't remember what kind of list it is, but try a
message
subscribe dm30 your_name_here
sent to
lists...@starnet.com
If that doesn't work, try message direct to postmas...@starnet.com,
asking for help subscribing.
I should know how to do it, I'm subscribed. You will, if you have any
kind of mathematical ability at all, be able to work out that you can
subscribe even if you haven't made the 30 years with diabetes (yet).
This may be more the kind of place you are looking for, in that you know
that there will be no 'newbies' listening, but on the other hand,
traffic is much less frequent. Weeks go by with no posts.
