Question:
Hi,
I've recently noticed some behaviors in my dog that concern me and I
have some questions. He's a one and a half year old mutt. He was
neutered two months ago. His symptoms are: increased urination,
increased water consumption, weight gain. Upon a recent visit to
petdiabetes.org, I see these as diabetes symptoms. Most anecdotes
I've read seem to be from owners with older dogs. Do young dogs get
diabetes? Is it a matter of a simple blood glucose test at the vet to
make a difinitive diagnosis? Thanks.
Answer:
I would take your dog to the vet and get some blood work done. It is
very possible it could be diabetes or something that just resembles it.
The best way to be sure is get a blood work up done. Let us know what the results are.
Best of luck to you both,
