Question:
My wife has been a typeI insulin dependent diabetic for 28 years.
My son from a previous marriage returned recently from a trip to Peru.
He ran into some people claiming success in the treatment of diabetes
there by natural
means.
Has anyone else heard of this situation???
Answer:
Tell your wife to be very wary of these claims. Also, these claimants may
be T2, in which exercise and diet may have played a major factor in their
improvement. I actually had an accupunture "doctor" tell me that she could
cure me. (I've been T1 for 20 years.) After she stuck a needle in my
bellybutton, I left. (By the way, I'm still T1...I must have needed more
treatments!) Trust me, I understand the desire for a cure...or even a way
to control this beast without 8 shots a day. I believe that there is a
place for non-western medicine, but that place should not be anywhere near
diabetes.
Good luck to your wife.
