Question:
My 15 year old son has just been put on insulin. I'm worried that he might
overdose on insulin one day with his mood swings. What does it take to
overdose to the point of going into a coma? He weighs over 300 pounds.
Answer:
I isn't going to be any help, but it depends. Sometimes I can feel
myself go low on my standard AM dose of 25 units of NPH. Usually not
though. Once I had to take some humalog and misjudged, but you know
*that* very soon.
I really depends on how much is given, where it is given, and how much
has been eaten and when.
Sorry I can't be or more help. this is a real question for your son's
health team, and would not take any other answer, especially on an
Internet message group.
