I have Diabetes Foot problem.

Question:
I have another silly newby question: For the past 16 months I have worried each time I have nicked my feet with a cut or had one of my big-toenail problems. Each time my feet have healed right up. How long before I experience problems? I keep my sugars in great control, I just hate the suspense diabetes brings...know what I mean?

Answer:
Best thing to do is, no matter where you get a nick, cut of scrape, take care of it. Assume that you already do have problems, and stay on top of any wounds that you get. I'd tell you this diabetic or not. Why? Because a person does not have to be diabetic to have problems healing. Remember any problem a person can have due to diabetes, MOST of them (the problems), a person without diabetes can have, just not caused by high glucose.

You don't want to get lax in keeping on top of any wounds you get, only to find that the one time you didn't pay attention to a wound, it become a huge limb or life threatening ordeal.

Good for you in keeping you blood sugars in control. Keep whatever it is that you are doing, for as long as you are able to.
