Question:
If you are on the border line for having diabetes after having a blood test,
what are the levels that are normal, and what level is critical for
acquiring it??????? I live in Australia and I think the levels go 5.7, 5.8,
thru to 6, which may be the line is this correct.
Answer:
Unacceptable control: 7 mmol/L or more before meals
11 mmol/L or more after meals
Satisfactory control: 6 - 7 mmol/L before meals
11 mmol/L after meals
Ideal control: 3 - 6 mmol/L before meals
up to 8 mmol/L 2 hours after meals
Normal: 3 - 8 mmol/L
Risk of hypoglycaemia: less than 3 mmol/L - if insulin or diabetes tablests are used,but does not apply to people controlled by meal plans alone.
