Question:
I have been on Atkins' now for 1 week, and have seen no results in
weight loss. My carb intake has been very minimal (less than 5gr)
daily. I have been a T1 for 30 years, am on Capoten for kidney
preservation. I previously was taking 2u Humulin R in the a.m.
(sliding scale during the interim of the day), and 2u in the evening and
10u Humulin U at 9p.m. Since beginning the Atkins' diet I am taking
4-6u of Humulin U once in the a.m. and p.m.. My BS have been an average
of 138.
Has anyone else had a similar experience??
Answer:
It takes more exercise than you may think. In fact, an hour a day is
recommended. If you're working out 3x per week, that may keep you
"toned", but it won't help with weight loss. Make sure you're lifting
weights in addition to cardio exercise. It might be a good idea to hook
up with a personal trainer. They can help evaluate your situation, and
point you in the right direction for weight loss. One really important
factor is your body fat percentage. Even though the scale says more than
you like, you may be at a healthy body fat.
Also keep in mind that the body is stingy with weight loss. But it does
happen. Just be patient!
